Requirements

This release requires TypeWhisper 1.7.0 or newer on macOS 14 or later. The stable macOS 1.6 edition does not meet that requirement.

The add-on uses yt-dlp and ffmpeg. It checks common installation locations and offers to install missing tools through an existing Homebrew installation. You can also install the tools yourself and check again.

Setup and use

  1. Install and enable Web Link Transcription in Settings > Integrations on a compatible host.
  2. Open its settings and check that yt-dlp and ffmpeg are ready.
  3. Open Web Link from TypeWhisper’s media import entry points and paste an HTTP or HTTPS media URL.
  4. Start the import. The add-on downloads one supported media item and hands its audio to the file transcription queue.
  5. Review the result in TypeWhisper after the selected engine finishes processing it.

Supported sites depend on yt-dlp. Playlist downloads are disabled. The website receives the media download request; subsequent audio processing follows the local or cloud engine selected in TypeWhisper. The add-on itself is not a speech recognition engine.
