What is GPLv3 and how does it affect me?+
TypeWhisper is open source under GPLv3. You may install and run the GPL version as-is, including for internal professional or commercial work, subject to the GPL. Premium features such as Cloud Folder Sync and Automatic Correction Learning require a Commercial license. If you distribute, embed, rebrand, or ship TypeWhisper in a way that is not GPL-compatible, or if you need procurement, invoicing, or priority support, use a Commercial license.
I'm a freelancer - do I need a commercial license?+
Not merely because you run the unmodified GPL app while working. Consider the Individual tier if you want Premium sync or automatic correction learning, or if you need non-GPL terms, invoicing, procurement, priority support, or rights to redistribute/ship TypeWhisper in a proprietary context.
I use it at work but pay for it myself - what tier?+
For ordinary internal use of the unmodified GPL app, you can stay on the GPL path. Use a Commercial tier if you want Premium sync or automatic correction learning, or if your employer needs non-GPL terms, procurement, invoicing, support, or managed licensing.
Can I upgrade from Individual to Team later?+
Yes. Write to licensing@typewhisper.com and we'll prorate the difference against your existing subscription or lifetime purchase.
What's the difference between a Supporter tier and a Commercial license?+
Supporter tiers are a thank-you for individuals who want to fund the project. They do not grant alternative commercial license terms. If you need non-GPL terms, procurement, support, or proprietary redistribution/embedding rights, use a Commercial license.
Does Lifetime include future updates?+
Yes. Lifetime covers all future TypeWhisper updates in the same product line.
What happens if I cancel my monthly subscription?+
You keep commercial-license benefits until the end of your paid period. After that, the commercial license expires; you can still use the app under GPLv3, but non-GPL terms, procurement/support benefits, and managed commercial rights would require renewal.
Can I get a refund?+
Yes. Write to licensing@typewhisper.com within 14 days of purchase and we'll refund you, no questions asked.
Do you offer educational or non-profit discounts?+
Non-profits and students, get in touch at licensing@typewhisper.com. We usually have headroom for fair discounts.
How do I activate my license?+
Open TypeWhisper, go to Settings > License > 'Already have a key?', paste the key you received after checkout, and it activates on the current device.
