Speechmatics adds a cloud transcription engine to TypeWhisper powered by the Speechmatics API. The plugin offers real-time speech recognition with a choice between Enhanced and Standard models. Enhanced provides the best accuracy while Standard is faster and more cost-effective. A configurable server region setting lets you route requests to the closest endpoint for lower latency.

Configuration

• API Key - Create an API key at speechmatics.com and paste it into the plugin settings.
• Model - Select a transcription model. Enhanced provides the best accuracy. Standard is faster and more cost-effective.
• Region - Select the server region closest to you for lower latency. Available regions are EU and US.

Setup

1. Create an account at speechmatics.com
2. Generate an API key in your dashboard
3. Open TypeWhisper Settings > Plugins
4. Find the Speechmatics plugin and click Configure
5. Enter your Speechmatics API key and save it
6. Select your preferred model and region
7. Select Speechmatics as your transcription engine in Settings or in a profile
