xAI / Grok for Windows

Guide for this edition

Set up the add-on and verify its platform-specific capabilities with a first practical workflow.

Setup

1. Open Settings > Integrations. Install xAI / Grok from Discover if it is not already listed under Installed, then enable it.
2. Open the add-on settings and review the options available in this edition.
3. Store and validate the API key in encrypted TypeWhisper for Windows settings
4. Choose the transcription model and LLM model, then refresh the catalog when needed
5. Choose or refresh a TTS voice, optionally enter a custom voice ID, and configure latency and normalization
6. Select xAI / Grok as the transcription engine in general settings, a profile, or a workflow override.
7. Select xAI / Grok as the LLM provider for a workflow prompt or translation.
8. Select xAI / Grok as the text-to-speech provider for spoken feedback or readback.

In practice

Transcription

Create a test profile, select xAI / Grok as the engine, and dictate a few sentences. Check the language, model, and result before making this edition your default.

LLM

Create a meeting-notes workflow, select xAI / Grok as its LLM provider, and turn a short dictation into a summary, decisions, and action items.

Text-to-Speech

Enable spoken feedback, select xAI / Grok as the voice provider, and test a short sentence before adjusting speed or quality.
